Budongo, Edinburgh Zoo

Sturrock Power was contracted to provide full mechanical and electrical services for this new prestige build. Part of the works included creating external areas for the chimpanzees in which there were no walls or glazing on one side to allow full viewing by the audience.  The introduction of a man made moat and water fall using mechanical systems connected to a borehole system was successfully completed.

The main challenge that was successfully met was to accurately replicate the environmental conditions of the chimpanzees natural habitat. Due to the extent of building activity on site during this project, Sturrock Power decided to have the boiler room pre-fabricated off-site.
